How to Add a User in Squarespace

Squarespace makes it easy to collaborate with team members, clients, or content editors by giving them access to your site. Whether you need someone to update pages, manage products, or view analytics, adding a user takes only a few steps. Here’s how to add a new user in Squarespace and assign the right level of permission.

1. Log In to Your Squarespace Account

Start by signing in at squarespace.com. Once logged in, choose the website where you want to add a user and enter the site’s dashboard.

2. Go to the Site Settings

In the left-hand menu, select Settings. This is where you manage permissions, billing, roles, and other administrative functions.

3. Open Permissions

Under Settings, click Permissions. This section displays the list of all current contributors and their roles. Here you can add new users, adjust roles, or remove access at any time.

4. Click “Invite Contributor”

Select the option to Invite Contributor. Enter the person’s email address and choose their access level. Squarespace offers several permission types depending on what you want the user to do.

5. Choose the Right Permission Level

Squarespace includes a range of contributor roles. A few common ones include:

  • Administrator – Full access to all settings, design tools, and content.
  • Website Editor – Can edit pages, add content, and manage layout changes.
  • Billing Administrator – Can view and manage billing information.
  • Store Manager – Can manage products, orders, and customer data.
  • Analytics Viewer – Can view metrics without editing the site.

Assign the smallest level of access required to maintain security and keep site changes under control.

6. Send the Invitation

After selecting a role, send the invite. The user will receive an email with instructions to create an account or sign in. Once they accept, they’ll have access to the site based on the permissions you assigned.

7. Adjust or Remove Access Anytime

You can manage permissions at any time by returning to the Permissions area. From here, you can promote, demote, or remove users with a single click.
