Project Overview: Web Design & Development for Hair District Collective

Austin Web and Design partnered with Hair District Collective, a Minnesota-based salon and beauty collective, to design a modern website that serves both the retail salon audience and the commercial leasing side of their business. The new site gives users clear paths, fast access to services and locations, and an upscale aesthetic that reflects the brand.

The project goal was to build a highly intuitive, client-editable WordPress site with a dual-purpose structure — ensuring customers and potential suite renters can quickly find the information they need.

The website features an opening splash screen where visitors can choose their path:

• Retail – salon services, stylists, locations, and appointment information
• Commercial – suite rentals, amenities, and business resources

Each side of the website includes its own navigation and tailored layout to support audience-specific content.

To enhance usability, both retail and commercial pages use on-page anchor menus. Visitors can seamlessly scroll to the content they want to see — services, benefits, locations, FAQs, and more — without navigating between multiple pages.

A dedicated locations area showcases Hair District Collective’s Minnesota salon and suite locations with:

• Embedded Google Maps for directions
• Consistent location cards for quick scanning
• Easy access to reviews and ratings

The website is powered by ACF custom fields, giving the client full control over their content, including:

• Service lists and pricing
• Locations and contact information
• Stylist and staff information
• Commercial leasing details

This ensures the client can make updates without needing developer support.

The site includes a built-in SEO plugin allowing the client to manage titles, descriptions, and social share images. Clean code, optimized layouts, and properly structured headings ensure the website performs well in search engines.

Like all AWD websites, this build includes:

• Premium contact form plugins
• Security enhancements
• Automated backups
• Uptime monitoring
• Performance-focused caching and optimization

The result is a polished, fast, and flexible website that supports Hair District Collective’s growing presence across Minnesota.
