Project Overview: Educational Services Website Redesign, Custom WordPress Blocks & User Experience Design

Austin Web & Design partnered with CED — Center for Educational Documentation — to redesign its website with a fresh visual presentation and a focused approach to organizing information.

The project brings together service discovery, applicant guidance, and custom WordPress components. From the first visit to the next step in the application process, the design centers on helping visitors understand their options and find relevant information.

A credential evaluation website needs to answer practical questions before a visitor is ready to apply. The design challenge was to organize those answers into a coherent experience while giving CED a consistent way to present its content.

We organized the website around the decisions visitors make as they explore CED’s services. Focused page sections, consistent headings, and prominent calls to action give each part of the experience a clear purpose.

• Navigation for credential evaluations, translations, FAQs, and pricing
• An overview of General, Course By Course, CPA Examination, and CPA Licensure reports
• Links to compare reports and explore evaluation details
• Guidance explaining what happens after an order is submitted
• Visible entry points to start or resume an application, request copies, and make a payment

A custom welcome ticker adds a distinctive detail to the homepage. Built as a reusable WordPress block, it lets the team manage individual greetings as editable text rather than embedding them in an image.

• Repeatable entries with language and text-direction settings
• CSS animation with a reduced-motion alternative
• Screen-reader handling for duplicated animation content
• Component styles loaded when the block is rendered

This feature brings movement and personality to the page while accounting for different reading directions and motion preferences.

CED’s Astra child theme provides the project’s visual styling and responsive adjustments. Client-specific presentation is kept separate from reusable component behavior, allowing the theme and plugin to serve distinct roles.

• Adjusted image and text order in the homepage closing call to action
• Responsive footer layout and client-specific styling

The development approach pairs CED’s child theme with the AWD Blocks plugin. Shared functionality lives in reusable components, while CED’s colors, spacing, and decorative presentation remain in the theme.
